Inderfews

Hey, thanks for adding the category tags to those interviews. I sort of spaced that out when I was typing "}}" over and over, haha. Eventually I'm gonna make lists of each member's interviews and organize it by date. It's possible to do the same thing with categories, but everything will either be sorted under "1" or "2" instead of "1999" or "2002". The interview category is still necessary, of course, but the individual lists would be easier for the people to navigate. Thanks again! - Megasnorkel (admin) 18:44, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

The bulb.

Best thing on this whole site. Easily. --ohjonas (admin) 16:27, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Ants

You should totally start burning ants. It's like being God.

Numbers

i'm not supposed to understand the numbers thing, right? --MyNameIsJason 00:49, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Numbers is Weezerpedia's human branding system. We give Numbers to users who have contributed a lot to the site or are worthy of recognition as voted by the board. It's a good thing, Jason. Be proud to be branded.--Soupandballoons (admin) 02:19, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
cool. its funny right after I was made a mod i had a really busy week and couldn't celebrate with any editing. but i made a page today. so yay.MyNameIsJason 02:56, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

just got Alone II?

what do you think of it? I've only had one real listen so far, and I freaking loved it. Don't Worry Baby is stellar. I also really liked My Day Is Coming. --MyNameIsJason 09:43, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I really like it. I love the beginning of "Don't Worry Baby, ""Well, it's been building up inside of me for, oh, I don't know how long." That's great. And, I've also been snagging "My Brain Is Working Overtime," "The Prettiest Girl in the Whole Wide World," and "Can't Stop Partying." I think it's a pretty rad record. --Soupandballoons (admin) 18:52, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
I think I like the SS2K version of My Brain more. the Alone II one is growing on me, though. and I'll Think About You is quickly becoming my favorite Rivers-penned song of all time.--MyNameIsJason 06:31, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

good to have you back

we missed you. --MyNameIsJason 04:49, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry man. I'm not sure how those powers were lost. I don't recall removing them. --ohjonas (admin) 03:55, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

plans for the future

Hey.
I'm not sure how often everyone has been editing here, but my productivity with =wp= has steadily decline of late. I plan on changing this! I'm promising myself that I am going to edit 1 page a day. Yesterday, I made Josh Freese, and today I beefed 367. Hopefully I can start contributing like the good ol' days, cuz =wp= is important to me. keep it on the up. - MNIJ.

making edits to news, other stuff

I just caught up our news section, and saved my edits, but they don't appear on the Main Page. When I check the history thingy and preview the current revision, it shows my edits, but the page itself does not. what's the deal? --MyNameIsJason 16:42, 21 December 2009 (EST)

It takes a bit to update on its own. Or, you can click edit on the Main Page and save with no changes and it will update all the transcluded text from other pages. --Soupandballoons 18:27, 21 December 2009 (EST)

also, what do you think of creating a rule in the style guide for dates that fall on the same day. I came upon September 27, which had three events for 2008. Whaddaya tihnk? It looks kinda lame to just have three 2008's, but it looks lame to have them all listed under the same bullet. --MyNameIsJason 16:52, 21 December 2009 (EST)

I saw a few of those come up in the past. All the events should be under one 2008 section, like you said. If you want to add an "On this day..." section to the Style Guide go ahead.
Most of the year pages are a mess too. --Soupandballoons 18:27, 21 December 2009 (EST)

wtf at "The Pain," "The Pleasure," etc pages

I haven't been on A6 lately at all, and I know you're not a boardie, but am I the only one that thinks these pages are completely inappropriate? --MyNameIsJason 19:03, 3 January 2010 (EST)

I don't know what they are. It looks like ohjonas has been working on them. Maybe they should be under Category:Joke_pages. I leave the Albumsix pages to you guys- I don't know what you're talking about half the time. Talk to ohjonas. We could also create an article message box to put at the top of joke pages. --Soupandballoons 19:48, 3 January 2010 (EST)
Fandom/Joke page article message boxes --Soupandballoons 20:20, 3 January 2010 (EST)
I'm glad those joke page templates are finally around. we seriously needed those. was that polldaddy thing intended for me? I have no idea what that is. --MyNameIsJason 22:58, 4 January 2010 (EST)
never mind about that poll thing, I see it now! that thing rules! --MyNameIsJason 23:01, 4 January 2010 (EST)

date on the main page

why does the date on the main page always seem to be a day ahead? --MyNameIsJason 20:23, 7 January 2010 (EST)

The time zone on the server or wiki is set wrong. I think it's set to GMT so right now it thinks it's 1:30am tomorrow even though it's only 8:30 here and 5:30 on the west coast. There is a way to set it so it adjusts depending on where you log on from in the world but you would have to check MediaWiki's help pages to see how that's done. --Soupandballoons 20:29, 7 January 2010 (EST)
Also, if you look at the signature times they're in EST. That was manually changed in the code, so I'm not sure where the {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}} get their information. The server time maybe? That is a problem though. --Soupandballoons 20:35, 7 January 2010 (EST)

re: previous day / next day

I lack the internet savvy and the Weezerpedia rank to make that type of template, right? How does that even happen? I think we need a good way to go from date to date. --MyNameIsJason 21:14, 14 January 2010 (EST)

changed the little header on the main page

what do you think? --MyNameIsJason 04:44, 24 January 2010 (EST)

Yeah. That should be updated regularly. --Soupandballoons 15:32, 24 January 2010 (EST)

polls

we've got some poll suggestions going on on that little page. since you've crowned yourself poll king, do you feel like changing it? if not, could you teach me how to?.
--MyNameIsJason 00:34, 4 March 2010 (EST)

Weezerpedia:Poll The code looks like this <polldaddy pollid="2469171"/>. You change the number to whatever number PollDaddy gives you when you make a new poll. I'll email you the user and password. --Soupandballoons 10:36, 4 March 2010 (EST)
check the main page out. i'm awesome.

re:spoken word articles

Re: Weezerpedia Spoken Articles
--MyNameIsJason 01:28, 7 March 2010 (EST)

I'm too lazy to link to my talk page. idk. also - i'm trying to use clickpic stuff for the gallery page, so that when you click the pictures on the main gallery page they take you into the actual gallery, not that individual picture. i'm having trouble, though. do you know how to make that work? --MyNameIsJason 01:55, 7 March 2010 (EST)
See Template:Band_member_boxes. --Soupandballoons 02:01, 7 March 2010 (EST)
I was looking at that before for an example, and when I tried poking around with the formatting of that main gallery page, it didn't want to accept any type of click pics. I haven't messed with that just yet, but I did a lot of stuff in the Sandbox. Take a look. I just used the Band Members thingy as a guide. I don't know how to center the pictures in the boxes, and I also don't know how to make a new row of boxes. I was thinking we could make a template page with stuff like that and just dump it on the gallery page. Cuz how the gallery page is right now, without clickpics, is really stupid. Are those pictures that i used too small? I did 100x100 px. what do you think?
--MyNameIsJason 03:47, 7 March 2010 (EST)
also, our Disclaimer page is blank. should we just copy from this?--MyNameIsJason 05:42, 7 March 2010 (EST)
fuck our privacy policy and About pages are blank too! we gotta get on that shit. --MyNameIsJason 05:43, 7 March 2010 (EST)

gallery

check out the Sandbox. i know that looks shitty right now, but do you think we should use something like that instead of having the misleading picture links in the gallery? --MyNameIsJason 17:42, 19 March 2010 (EDT)

I think it's fine how it is. If you think you can improve on something go ahead. Keep it simple.--Soupandballoons 18:29, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
I think the pictures in the gallery need to be clickpics. every time i'm browsing through there, i always click on the picture and i get sent to that file page.

--MyNameIsJason 14:56, 20 March 2010 (EDT)

check this out. i don't know if that can work in the gallery formatting, though. -- MyNameIsJason 17:02, 20 March 2010 (EDT)

making the news cut off on the main page

is there any way we can limit the amount of news posts come up on the main page? i think it's gonna start stretching the main page out too much. --MyNameIsJason 03:52, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

also - I'm making up the Weezerpedia:General disclaimer page right now from the disclaimer page of Wikipedia, and it makes reference to the physical location of Weezerpedia's servers. Do you know where they are? Wikipedia's are in Florida. Where are ours? I'm gonna leave it blank till now. --MyNameIsJason 04:20, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

also - I made a Weezerpedia:Policy page. Would that belong in the little sidebar that is viewable on all pages? --MyNameIsJason 05:03, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

name of featured article, song on main page

I think that on the Main Page, in the little title boxes for the featured articles and songs, we should put the name of the song and article right in there. Look at the Sandbox for the idea. maybe we could change the color of the text, too. Maybe this is a stupid idea all together. who knows. If we did this, though, we would be making it so regular users can't edit the featured stuff, cuz they don't have access to the Main Page. Is there anyway we can make it so the software does this for us?
--MyNameIsJason 04:12, 10 May 2010 (EDT)

installing extensions

hey. I'm tinkering around with possibly making the entire Gallery page one big image map, and I'm having some trouble. Do we have an imagemap extension installed? What the hell is an extension? Do you know what I'm talking about at all? I'm sending this to all the mods to see what's going on. I have the code for the imagemap made (i used this to make it), but i don't know what to do from there. if it's any help, the code is saved in the Sandbox. the extension can be found here. thanks.
--MyNameIsJason 07:15, 26 August 2010 (EDT)

I know what you're talking about. See, Extension manual. It is not wise to rely on extensions that may not be supported in future versions of MediaWiki. Your best bet is to follow the footsteps of Wikimedia projects. Ask Ohjonas. Soupandballoons 13:37, 26 August 2010 (EDT)
I'm reading this manual thing, and it's really gnarly. Does my account even have the authority to do this on Weezerpedia? --MyNameIsJason 21:27, 26 August 2010 (EDT)
I definitely don't have the power to do this. I don't have access to our host or anything like that. Do you? It's wordpress, right? --MyNameIsJason 21:43, 26 August 2010 (EDT)

check out the date pages!

uploading mp3s

what's the deal with having mp3s on Weezerpedia? Is Geffen going to freak out if we do anything? I just made a little clip of Say It Ain't So and uploaded it, and if you link to the file's real url (http://weezerpedia.com/wiki/images/8/8d/SIAS_Weezerpedia.mp3), you can listen to the song on any page. It's only 28 seconds long. I think having little song snippets on every page would be cool.

"Featured content" link on the main page, the nav bar

Hey. I think the page for "Featured Content" isn't really relevant anymore. Not many of the articles or songs that we feature on the main page are on that list, and it seems kinda randomly put together to me. I took it off the Main Page and the Nav sidebar thingy.

I could be totally overstepping my bounds here, though, and making too drastic a decision. Feel free to revert it if you object to it at all. I think it belongs in both of those places, but not in its current state.
--MyNameIsJason 03:41, 21 September 2010 (EDT)

logo above the nav bar

the logo above the nav bar says ecyclopedia! I uploaded a new version of the logo that we use on the Weezerpedia page that has that typo fixed. is there any way we can swap out that typo one? --MyNameIsJason 01:29, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

See $wgLogo --Soupandballoons 14:07, 27 October 2010 (EDT)
Do you have our wordpress login? I don't think I can edit any php files unless i log in as an administrator to the actual wordpress thingy. Am i wrong? I could also install the imagemap extension if i had that login too.--MyNameIsJason 00:53, 29 October 2010 (EDT)
I'll send you what you need. --Soupandballoons 07:49, 29 October 2010 (EDT)
