It was intended as a follow-up album to 2016's ''[[Weezer (The White Album)]]''. The album that was supposed to contrast the ''[[Weezer (The White Album)]]'' lyrically and musically. It had faced many delays the album halted production as they released 2017's ''[[Pacific Daydream]]''. Rivers had stated in multiple interviews that the album was going to be urban, feature more synths, and would be ten steps further than ''Pacific Daydream''. While Rivers stated that the album was nearly done for a May 2018 release date, Pat and Brian both said that it was in the demo stage as of February 2018.
