Said Rivers, "Well, it's funny because I brought this idea to the record company a few months ago and the guy reminded me that I'd asked them to do this ten years ago.  At the time, the record company said 'No, you shouldn't do that.  You shouldn't dilute the Weezer name with lower quality material'.  But over the years I always thought, 'Man, I've got all these really cool home recordings.  I wish I could put them out.'  Finally I had to do something about it.  It was driving me crazy.  I had to really push to make it happen.
