The Office Demos is the unofficial name given to several acoustic, non-album Weezer songs written during the recording of Make Believe. From 2003 to 2008, the only Office Demos that had been heard were the songs "Everybody Wants a Chance to Feel All Alone" and "Private Message". In June of 2003, after the S.I.R. Demos, Weezer began to rent office space in Los Angeles where they would rehearse with acoustic guitars and record demos directly into Rivers Cuomo's laptop. The office was a standard business office in an industrial park and not designed for band rehearsals. The four members of Weezer would play sitting on chairs and couches around a coffee table facing each other. In addition to acoustic guitars played by Rivers, Brian or Pat, and acoustic bass played by Scott, other instruments used on the demos were Pat's Stratocaster and a Nord synthesizer.
The sessions at the office carried through to November 4th. During this time, there was strong talk of all members of the band contributing songs. Brian and Pat put forth several tunes, including a several demos Pat made by himself at home, and then presented to the band at rehearsal.
Beginning on November 5th, the band returned to full-band, electric recordings that led directly into the first round of Make Believe Sessions.
Four of these acoustic recordings have been commercially released: "I Can Love", "It's Easy" (both were iTunes bonus tracks on The Red Album), "The Story Of My Life" (iTunes bonus track on Raditude), and "The Rat Race" (on the charity compilation The Right Track: Tunes To Target Cancer).
