Rivers announced on his Instagram that he was dropping a solo single. It was produced in Ableton by AJR, who had recently featured Rivers on one of their songs, "Sober Up". The song is not part of any larger project - Rivers stated in 2017 about the Alone albums, "It’s kind of embarrassing. If you search for my name on Spotify, that’s what comes up. I should put out something more pro also so people don’t think that’s all I do." The song was also released around the time of a brief solo acoustic tour, during which Rivers played the song at every show.
