Outloud Tour]].<ref name="rechist13" /> The song was first demoed as a band during [[Maladroit_demos#DC_Demos|sessions at Monster Island Studios]] in Washington, D.C. "High Up Above" was performed on [[June 13]], [[2001]] at BBC Studios for the Radio 1 show ''The Evening Session with Steve Lamacq'', where it was later broadcast. Weezer subsequently played the song live through June and July of that year. The aforementioned versions of the song prominently utilize an organ, though this was replaced with guitar when the song was attempted during the ''[[Maladroit]]'' studio sessions at [[Cello Studios]].
