The song's BMI work number suggests that it was written around [[2014]] (possibly around the same time as "[[Back to the Shack]]," also co-written by Kasher). In September of [[2023]], [[Rivers Cuomo]] submitted numerous demos to producer [[Klas Åhlund]] for consideration for {{PN|Weezer}} planned [[Weezer's twentieth album|twentieth album]], which Åhlund narrowed down to thirty, among which was "Slangin' Dreams" (renamed "Selling Dreams" as of early November). | ||
