Rivers Cuomo, around 2010, recorded demos with Shawn Everett for a potential "Sea Opera" concept album.
The so-called "Sea Opera" refers to an album concept speculated to have been in development by Rivers Cuomo around 2010. In fact, no such "sea opera" ever existed.

Plot
Rivers Cuomo uploaded several videos in January of 2011 of himself working on songs in the studio with producer Shawn Everett. Among the videos were snippets of the following songs:
Details are scarce, but the album would have featured a fictional band called "The Roaches" playing on a ship called the Resolution. It could be inferred that The Roaches would have been stand-ins for Weezer themselves. A similar idea would eventually be used for the fictional band The Astronauts from Everything Will Be Alright in the End.
*"Rock and Roll Cockroach" - A song about a fictional band called "The Roaches". The concept of the fictional band eventually morphed into The Astronauts from Everything Will Be Alright in the End. The song itself was later reworked into the Van Weezer track "Beginning of the End".

*"Ballad of the Briny" - A song about a sailor named Mortimer Collins falling in love with a woman, only to find her having sex with the ship's captain. Collins then throws himself overboard, hallucinating as he drowns. The song was later reworked into the Van Weezer

*"Rest in Peace" - A song later reworked into the White Album track "Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori".
*"Ballad of the Briny"
*"Boat In The Sea"
*"Rock And Roll Cockroach"
*An unknown song that would be eventually become another song titled "Rest In Peace" before the melody was ultimately re-appropriated as the bridge in "Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori".

For several years thereafter, fans speculated that Cuomo was planning a "sea opera" concept album, due to "Ballad of the Briny" bearing narrative resemblance to Cuomo's previous album concept, Songs from the Black Hole. In 2020, however, Cuomo confirmed on a Riverpedia entry that there was no "Sea Opera".
