<blockquote> 5/15/21 marks 20 years to the day from the release of our 3rd album, “weezer” aka “The Green Album”. This is quite a milestone because at the time, it was considered to be the beginning of a new era - the first new weezer album in 5 years, first since the departure of original bass player Matt, and a fresh new start for a band that the press and many casual fans had written off after Pinkerton’s undeserved slow fade out in ‘97. </blockquote>

The Kitchen Tapes and First Real Demo is a compilation of various Weezer and Rivers Cuomo demo recordings, as well as all of the officially released "Hash Pipe" remixes. The release is notably incredibly low quality, with multiple typos and track listing errors being apparent.

The release was featured in a June 2002 edition of Beatleg Magazine, a Japanese magazine focusing on music reviews and circulating physical bootlegs. The review theorizes that only around 300 copies of the bootleg were produced.
