Overview
"Up in the Clouds" was originally demoed in consideration for what would eventually become Weezer's ninth album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. The song evolved gradually out of the song "East Coast or West Coast" (which was originally conceived as early as 2006). Several iterations of demos were released as part of the digital compilation Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years on November 21, 2020.
"Up in the Clouds" was among dozens of songs submitted by Cuomo to producer Klas Åhlund in 2023 in consideration for Weezer's planned twentieth album,[1] though the song was ultimately cut from consideration.
