Draft:Unofficial Japanese bootleg records pressed by GZ Media

Between ca. 2000–2002, a number of unofficial bootleg Weezer and Weezer-related vinyl records were released in Japan. These were visually similar to one another, as well as to vinyl bootlegs of other bands from the same time period. They were pressed by Czech vinyl manufacturer GZ Media, but otherwise do not have any label information. Each release contains a variety of circulating B-sides, demos, and bootlegged recordings. They are packaged in plain, black or white die cut sleeves and — beginning with the fifth Weezer bootleg White Vinyl — include a sticker on the sleeve with artwork and their title. Some releases are accompanied by loose pieces of paper on which a track list, and occasionally photos or additional information, are printed. Variations on the text "promotional use only" and "limited edition" commonly appear on these releases.
The collection of records released during this period may or may not be related to a 2004–2005 series of vinyl bootlegs released by "Hot Shot Records", which share a strong resemblance to the earlier bootlegs. This later series included only one Weezer bootleg, Black & Blue Mashup Remix Album. Similar records also appear with the label "CCB Records" in 2004, however there are no known Weezer-related which credit it. Bootleg records of other artists in this style stop appearing no later than 2006.
