The first "Homie tryout" show | Rivers Cuomo performed as Homie on November 5, 1997 at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA.
==Overview== | |||
This performance was the first "Homie tryout" show. As explained by Karl Koch in the Recording History:
| |||
Cuomo was also scheduling these solo shows during the second half of 1997 to audition bassists to replace Matt Sharp in Weezer. This performance appears to not have been a more formal "try out" show, however, as Mikey Welsh was not involved, and no record exists of who played bass. In addition to Cuomo, Kevin Stevenson of the Shods played guitar. The show was organized as a fundraiser to oppose "a plan to demolish a building at Massachusetts Avenue and Magazine Street in order to build a $20 million, multi-use complex."
