"Fontana" was, according to the [[Catalog O' Riffs]], written by [[Rivers Cuomo]] around May of [[2002]]. Weezer recorded demos of the song during [[Album 5 demos|sessions for the band's planned fifth album]] immediately following the recording sessions for ''[[Maladroit]]'' (and before that album had even been released). None of the songs from these sessions would be released, however, and the album would not be released until [[2005]], in the form of ''[[Make Believe]]''.
