"Modern Dukes" was one of the [[Summer Songs of 2000]]. It is first known to have been demoed by Weezer at Cole Rehearsal Studios in Los Angeles in July of [[2000]], and was also demoed at shows and soundchecks during that same month. The song is not known to have been subsequently considered for the band's planned [[The Green Album|third album]], but did appear on the semi-"official" [[Summer Songs of 2000|Summer Songs 2000]] album curated by Rivers Cuomo and released to fans in November of [[2001]]. The song was considered again, featuring new verses, beginning in March of [[2002]], during the [[Album 5 Demos|sessions for Weezer's intended fifth album]], and was performed live at various concerts through late May of that year. The song was performed for the last time, to date, at a secret show in November of 2002 at [[Weezer concert: 11/03/2002 - Los Angeles, CA|the Hotel Café in Los Angeles]].
