Angus: Music from the Motion Picture: Difference between revisions

In [[1995]], [[Rivers Cuomo]] was approached by the producers of ''Angus'' to write a song for its soundtrack. Originally, Cuomo wrote "[[Wanda (You're My Only Love)]]", whose lyrics summarize the film's plot, however this song was rejected for being "too literal" and for not sounding enough like other popular [[Weezer]] songs. After the rejection, he wrote and submitted "[[You Gave Your Love to Me Softly]]", which was included in the film. Cuomo recalls being "angry, frustrated, and sad" at the studio's reaction to "Wanda" and has stated he felt the producers were wrong for including the ultimately chosen track. Said Cuomo, "The song had nothing to do with the movie, the characters, or the mood of the scene in which it played. At the time I concluded that the movie people didn't care about the art at all, they just wanted a Weezer rock single."<ref>Cuomo, Rivers. (2007).
