'''Jennifer Chiba''' was [[Rivers Cuomo]]'s girlfriend during the period when [[Weezer]] was touring small clubs in Los Angeles while trying to make a name for themselves in [[1992]] and [[1993]].  They continued a sporadic relationship when Cuomo would come to LA while touring after the release of ''[[The Blue Album]]''.  The songs "[[I'll Think About You]]" and "[[Hot Tub]]",  were written about her.  Additionally,  the character of [[Maria]] in ''[[Songs from the Black Hole]]'' was based on Chiba and the relationship between [[Jonas]] and Maria was based on Cuomo's thoughts and feelings about he and Chiba's relationship.  Chiba was the girlfriend of Elliott Smith when he commit suicide in [[2003]].  Cuomo wrote the song "[[The Other Way]]" after the Smith's death to console her but was confused and skeptical about his own motives for doing so.
