''''Too Late to Try'''' is a song from the [[Summer Songs of 2000]].
==Interpretation==
Too Late to Try has sometimes been dismissed as a simple song that means nearly nothing, or simply a song about growing old.  Other fans, such as lordofthemanor have interpreted the song to be about Weezer's potential comeback.
<lyrics>"And I see the gang to which I belong" [obviously Weezer]
"Time to sing out our happy song" [This could be a number of upbeat, poppy Weezer songs, but I think Buddy Holly rings most true to this line since it was the band's biggest hit, nearly putting them on 'one hit wonder' status].
"Wouldn't it be a cruel joke if its true late to try?" [The band has been defunct.  Years later, Cuomo wants to take another stab at stardom, but what if its too late?  What if he already got his chance to be famous and he blew it?  Is it too late to try?]
"And I see a comfortable place to rest,
Time to get this shit off my chest,
Wouldn't it be a cruel joke if its too late to try?" [The microphone, I assume, is this place.  It's where he feels he belongs.  But what if its no longer the way he can outlet his feelings?  This verse reminds me El Scorcho's
"How stupid is it, I can't talk about it, gotta sing about it, and make a record of my heart." [Cuomo feels an overwhelming obligation to write songs instead of directly addressing his feelings to people]
"I don't wanna die, even though I have to,
I just wanna live a long long time." [While on the surface, a simple lyric, I again think this is referencing to the death of his career.  He didn't want it to end so soon."
"I don't wanna grow, even if its good growth
I just wanna stay just like this." [This part I have the most trouble dissecting, but one way to look at it is that he is comfortable in his isolation where he can write songs over and over without making an album and being judged again]
So yeah.  I think a lot of people kind of push this song aside, but I've always appreciated the song because of these explanations for the lyrics.  While I am less sure about "I don't wanna die, I don't wanna grow" verses, I am almost certain the rest of the song is about Cuomo's struggle with his career at the time. </lyrics>
