This sophomore effort was delayed several times due to label demand to tweak it repeatedly, in addition to Sharp's multiple bouts of revisionary work.  It is a dense, personal record, which followed up a bright, more direct, poppy debut - as such, many fans consider it The Rentals' equivalent of ''[[Pinkerton]]''.  Unfortunately, the comparisons don't end there, as the record failed to make much chart noise, and the band was derailed for years in its wake.
