The Sessions@AOL in 2005 were Weezer's first Sessions@AOL performance, and they took place on November 1, 2005 at Capitol Studios' Studio A in Hollywood. Five songs were performed live in the studio, and therefore are presented in their sometimes altered 'live' versions. The performances and a interview shot on the same day debuted on November 18, 2005 on the AOL Sessions site. Also, backup guitarist Bobby Schneck, who accompanied the band on the Make Believe Tour, performed with the band. Later, a Best Buy promo DVD was released featuring three of the performances.
Weezer - Video Capture Device: Treasures from the Vault 1991-2002 (or simply Video Capture Device, abbrieviated VCD) is Weezer's first proper video release. Available only on DVD, VCD was compiled by Karl Koch, and released in the spring of 2004, on the same day as the Deluxe Edition of The Blue Album. Aside from all of the band's promotional music videos from that album through Maladroit, it also contains rare live performances, interviews, TV commercials, backstage moments, and documentary footage of the making of albums and videos. It even includes some hilarious band member antics caught on tape, paticularly those of Patrick Wilson, and Koch edited two new videos for "Pink Triangle" and "Slob" using material he'd shot over the years. As of early 2009, Koch has spoken of making another DVD.

"Beverly Hills" includes the notable "extended talk box solo" played by lead singer Rivers Cuomo, which is considered by some fans the "saving grace" for this song. In this performance, the background vocals "gimmie gimmie" are performed by Scott Shriner and Brian Bell instead of the female vocals on the album version.
Chapters "Saction" and "Weezer goes to Van Nuys: The Making of Pinkerton" include snippets of the then-unheard song "Superfriend", a song that would not be officially released until the 2007 demo album Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.
"Buddy Holly" includes the guitar/synth intro played on the Make Believe Tour. This live session was performed following the Make Believe tour, and as a result Cuomo's voice is somewhat hoarse. His voice cracks many times throughout the song, most notably on the lyric "What's with these homies dissin' my girl?" Auto Tuning is used significantly on this song and all the other songs from the 2005 AOL Sessions.
Brief snippets of unheard, unreleased songs "No Way" and "No More Confusin" can be heard during the "Stoopid Fresh" chapter.
The so called 'new-wave' version of "Don't Let Go". It includes a synthesizer arrangement, which, according to many fans, greatly improves the song. Brian plays lead guitar and synthesizer during this performance and Cuomo only sings.
The keyboardist playing during "Prodigy Lover" is Ryan Maynes.
An entirely acoustic performance of Island in the Sun was performed only by Cuomo. Having come straight off the Make Believe Tour, his voice is notably hoarse during this performance. Auto Tuning is heavily used during this performance and at certain points Cuomo has been described by fans to "sound like a robot" because of it. It is the most noticeable during the bridge.
Deleted scenes and extra footage were released via the band's website and are still available for free download in the media archive.
The performance of Perfect Situation is very similar to the single version, excluding all the flubbed notes sung by Cuomo. It includes the altered chorus vocals and background vocal of "perfect situation" during the outro.
The commentary tracks on the DVD were recorded on September 11th, 2002.
On the audio commentary for "Keep Fishin," the band refers to Muppets creator Jim Henson as "the guy who died" and laments that Muppeteer Frank Oz is "also no longer with us" despite the fact Oz is alive and well. The band may have been confusing Oz with Richard Hunt, who is, in fact, deceased.

Highlighting Maladroit on the TV Promos section and pressing right will make a large Flying =W= symbol appear. Clicking on it allows you to see the bonus feature "Wig Fishin" featuring Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo wearing a long blonde wig during an appearance on British television program, Popworld. The European edition of the DVD is lacking this bonus feature.
