Christmas with Weezer is an EP of Weezer Christmas carol covers and also an application for the iPhone and iPod touch created by Tapulous, the makers of Tap Tap Revenge. The Tapulous application is a game similar to Rock Band or Guitar Hero, and features Weezer covering six Christmas carolsThe songs are described in the press release as "funky but authentic." Two bonus tracks are available in the game ("Pork and Beans" and "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)") along with unspecified extra Weezer tracks, likely to be downloaded from an in-game system.
Karl Michael Koch (born September 15, 1969) is the webmaster, historian, archivist and unofficial fifth member of Weezer.<br>
Karl Koch graduated in the spring of 1991 from art school in Baltimore and soon went out to LA in a 1988 Ford Bronco at the urging of Pat Finn. At first, Koch didn't know anyone that would end up in Weezer, but eventually met the members through Pat Finn.  Koch recalled an early memory of (former Weezer bassist) Matt Sharp as a sad guy wearing little round glasses, black turtlenecks, and new wave hair.  "It was a nice apartment, but they couldn't afford anything.  So he'd sit on the lawn furniture...and watch Woody Allen films."<br>
Koch is considered by many to be the number one authority on all things Weezer.  In addition to running Weezer's website, Koch posts daily updates in his own news feature called Karl's Corner.  His production credits include the band's DVD, Video Capture Device and videos for "Pink Triangle", "Photograph", "Slob", the music video for The Special Goodness' "Life Goes By" of which Weezer's Pat Wilson is a member, and the video for "Blast Off!" from Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo by Weezer frontman Rivers CuomoKoch offers a unique and less biased opinion than the members of WeezerHe often posts on the Albumsix forums under the name Karlophone.<br>
Koch's authority on all things Weezer has caused the fan base to coin the term "Karlification", a clever take on 'clarification'.  Whenever the fans hear rumors or are unsure about certain 'facts' about the band, they will often email Koch or request his presence at message boards to clear the air.

The idea to record songs for the iPhone application Tap Tap Revenge came from Weezer drummer Pat Wilson, an iPhone owner himself. The recordings are unique for Weezer because all of the guitars and drums are performed by Wilson. It is assumed that Weezer's bassist, Scott Shriner, played bass.  A photo posted in November 2008 on weezer.com of Wilson and Shriner at Starbucks when the recordings would have been made seems to confirm this.  Later, frontman Rivers Cuomo recorded lead vocals separately.  After the application was released, additional enhancements were made to the songs and they were re-released online as a digital EP.  The new versions were remixed and now contained vocal harmonies from guitarist Brian Bell, altered lead vocals from Cuomo (removing some of the extensive vocal doubling) and added tambourine on "Silent Night".

To date, only one song from this EP has been released in physical, lossless form.  "O Come All Ye Faithful" appears on the 2009 Christmas Compilation JDRF's Hope For The Holidays.
