Karl Michael Koch (born September 15, 1969) is the webmaster, historian, archivist and unofficial fifth member of Weezer.<br>
Kara's Flowers was a Los Angeles-based punk-pop/power-pop rock band that is most notable for having evolved into the funk-pop band Maroon 5.
Karl Koch graduated in the spring of 1991 from art school in Baltimore and soon went out to LA in a 1988 Ford Bronco at the urging of Pat Finn. At first, Koch didn't know anyone that would end up in Weezer, but eventually met the members through Pat Finn.  Koch recalled an early memory of (former Weezer bassist) Matt Sharp as a sad guy wearing little round glasses, black turtlenecks, and new wave hair.  "It was a nice apartment, but they couldn't afford anything.  So he'd sit on the lawn furniture...and watch Woody Allen films."<br>
Koch is considered by many to be the number one authority on all things Weezer.  In addition to running Weezer's website, Koch posts daily updates in his own news feature called Karl's Corner.  His production credits include the band's DVD, Video Capture Device and videos for "Pink Triangle", "Photograph", "Slob", the music video for The Special Goodness' "Life Goes By" of which Weezer's Pat Wilson is a member, and the video for "Blast Off!" from Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo by Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. Koch offers a unique and less biased opinion than the members of Weezer.  He often posts on the Albumsix forums under the name Karlophone.<br>
Koch's authority on all things Weezer has caused the fan base to coin the term "Karlification", a clever take on 'clarification'.  Whenever the fans hear rumors or are unsure about certain 'facts' about the band, they will often email Koch or request his presence at message boards to clear the air.

Kara's Flowers is related to Weezer in that they contributed an exclusive track to the 1997 Vast Records album "Hear You Me! A Tribute To Mykel And Carli."

While attending Brentwood School, Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael joined up with Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick to form Kara's Flowers, and played their first gig at the Whisky a Go Go on September 16, 1995. When Valentine joined in 2001, the band adopted the name Maroon 5.

The band released one album as Kara's Flowers, 1997's "Fourth World," which was recently put back into print.
