==Overview== | |||
"Viva La Vida" is a cover of a song originally performed by the English alternative rock band Coldplay. It was written by all members of the band for their fourth album, Vida or Death and All His Friends. "Viva la Vida" means "Long live life" in Spanish. Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo performed the song live on October 28, 2009 for I Heart Radio's "Stripped" performance in New York, but, at that, point it probably wasn't being considered for release on an album. I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word | ==Lyrics==
Now in the morning I sleep alone | <lyrics>I used to rule the world
Sweep the streets I used to own | Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
I used to roll the dice | Sweep the streets I used to own
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing | I used to roll the dice
Now the old king is dead long live the king | Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
One minute I held the key | Listened as the crowd would sing
Next the walls were closed on me | Now the old king is dead long live the king
And I discovered that my castles stand | One minute I held the key
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand | Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing | Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield | I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Missionaries in a foreign field | Roman cavalry choirs are singing
For some reason I can't explain | Be my mirror, my sword and shield
Once you'd gone there was never | Missionaries in a foreign field
Never an honest word | For some reason I can't explain
And that was when I ruled the world | Once you'd gone there was never
Never an honest word | |||
It was a wicked and wild wind | And that was when I ruled the world
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums | It was a wicked and wild wind
People couldn't believe what I'd become | Blew down the doors to let me in
Revolutionaries wait | Shattered windows and the sound of drums
For my head on a silver plate | People couldn't believe what I'd become
Just a puppet on a lonely string | Revolutionaries wait
Oh who would ever want to be king? | For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing | Oh who would ever want to be king?
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know St Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word | |||
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know St Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word | |||
But that was when I ruled the world | But that was when I ruled the world
Hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know St Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word | |||
But that was when I ruled the world</lyrics>
