The song was recorded in the summer of 1994, along with "[[Mykel and Carli (Weezer song)|Mykel & Carli]]" and "[[My Evaline]]", and engineered by [[Paul duGre]]. This original version appeared alongside those songs as a B-side to various "[[Undone]]" singles that year. In 1995, when the band was asked to submit a track to the soundtrack to Kevin Smith's second film, ''Mall Rats'', the boys chose "Susanne".
