'''Troubleshooting Troublemaker: No Trouble'''
08/21/2008
'''takedown, shakedown, yer busted'''
09/02/2008
...The Troublemaker video was shot today, and its sure to be one for the history books. Or at least the Guinness Book! Rather than go over the rather nutty details, the results of which you are soon to be watching anyway, lettuce just say that a TON of dedicated weezer fans came down to help out and they were awesome sports, working hard all day in a hot parking lot.

The video producers had expressed worry about the sheer number of fans being involved, expecting difficulty keeping things organized and people being cooperative. Of course we here in Weezerland know by now to expect greatness from weezer fans and we assured the production team not to worry. And sure enough, the fans were punctual, focused and hardworking, and everything ran like clockwork!
...Band rehearsals have just wrapped up after many weeks of hard work, sorting out the songs and the gameplan for the upcoming shows in Japan and the USA. Last Thursday, a very small audience was let into the studio to watch a sneak preview of the band running thru their set, rough n' ready style. This was the first full electric weezer show of any sort in nearly 3 years, and the set was loaded with suprises and classics alike. Come on down to a show near you, folks, you will like what you see and hear!

The band was really impressed with the dedication and hard work the fans showed. The word from the band included such direct quotes as "Thank god we have such great fans" and "Our fans are working harder on this video than we are!"
...Red Album DELUXE VINYL. Folks, the Red Album Deluxe Edition has now been pressed as a strictly limited 180g 2xLP audiophile set, with the full deluxe liner notes and photos. This set was crafted (and I do mean crafted, one piece at a time), starting with the mastering, done by Kevin Gray at AcousTech Mastering. The vinyl pressing was done at the legendary RTI facility, where true artisans are at work. The album cover and inner sleeves printing were made at Stoughton Printing, and the center labels were printed by G&M Graphics.

There was just one major mishap during the shoot, and yours truly was caught up in the mess! What happened was we had what we thought was an insider tip on how to access the roof of the Forum. Sensing a great opportunity to get some aerial footage of the video shoot far below, we followed the secret instructions and traversed the nearly empty corridors of the Forum till we got to the upper stands. Which is where the plan fell apart. A key door that was not supposed to be locked was locked, and worse, we had been spotted by none other than Janet Jackson's security and production team. It seems Janet and co. were rehearsing for their upcoming show down on the floor of the arena, and we werent quite stealthy enough to slip by their line of defenses! Worse yet, two of us had really nice video cameras on us, and so naturally we were taken for people trying to spy on Janet behind the scenes!
You can be sure that this edition of the Red Album is the definitive one, and will look and sound amazing! The finished LPs are en route now, and I believe they will be featured in the (coming soon) all new weezer online store, as well as select retail outlets. They may be a tour item as well, haven't heard for sure yet. Things were not looking good. We explained (with a trumped up air of officialness) we were with the video shoot outside and were merely looking for a way to film from the roof, which only resulted in questions ranging from "what video shoot outside?" to "film what from the roof?" It was then that Dan the Man(ager) (who had gotten us into the mess) played his ace: he knew Janet's tour manager! We explained that he knew we were here and everything was cool. Of course it didnt help when the man finally came up to see what was going on, he said with a smile "Oh hi Dan... What are you doing here?" (insert forlorn 3 note trombone sound here...)
...The Winner of the Dance Jam Pork N' Beans Signature Dance Contest will be announced very soon. If you havent seen the many crazy submissions, go [http://dancejam.com/promotions/weezer/videos here and check them out!]

Well, after a bit more confusion everything was more or less kosher after that, and they even offered to escort us to the roof, but we unfortunately then learned that there was a rule about needing safety harnesses that we did not have access to. So the plan was finally kiboshed, after all.
...SoCal Be warned! Weezer is doing a pirate takeover of 106.7 KROQ-FM very soon! Hear weird songs that KROQ never plays but weezer likes! Hear bad jokes! Hear good ones too!

Meanwhile down on the parking lot, the band was running thru the main "rocking out" scene, one of the last scenes to be shot in a very long and surreal day. By 7:30 PM, the sun was fading and the director yelled out "Thats a Wrap!"
...Special tour note! Brian's other band [http://www.myspace.com/therelationship The Relationship] has been added to the lineup of the 3 California shows on the upcoming tour. San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego will all have Brian pulling double duty as opener in The Relationship and headliner in Weezer.

THANK YOU a million times over to the great fans who were awesome all day. There wouldnt have been a video without you! Stay tuned for the video and some special supplemental treats coming your way!
...Speaking of Red Albums, the [http://www.universal-music.co.jp/u-pop/artist/weezer/uicf9057.html Deluxe Japanese Red Album CD] version comes out in Japan tomorrow (9/3). This edition includes the expanded Deluxe tracklist plus 3 additional tracks including the exclusive Japanese B-Side "Meri-Kuri" (featuring Rivers singing in Japanese), as well as a bonus all-region DVD that has a bunch of cool stuff on it. Remember the talk of a live Weezer DVD a few years ago? Well, for some reason that plan went belly-up, but the footage was saved, and now 7 tracks from those late 2005 shows in Japan will be available on this bonus DVD. Also there will be behind the scenes stuff from that tour (breifly and mysteriously previewed on YouTube some months ago), an Electronic Press Kit (interview and song by song commentary for the Red Album), and the Pork And Beans video in its first(?) official physical release. Yes, the Japanese always seem to get the good stuff. But in todays global society, the good stuff gets around!
