"I Swear It's True" was first written in August of 1993.  The song was then rehearsed with Ric Ocasek during the early sessions of "The Blue Album".  The song would later end up being cut.  When Pinkerton sessions began, "I Swear It's True" was reconsidered for the album and was recorded.  When the song would once again not make the album cut, it was decided that it, along with "Getting Up and Leaving" would appear on the "Pink Triangle" promotional CD single.  However, with Matt Sharp away working on his new Rentals album, and with Pinkerton slowly proving a disappointment, the label decided that Pink Triangle's CD single would not see commercial release.  "I Swear It's True" can be heard on the Blue Album Deluxe Edition as well as the original home demo Rivers recorded, which is circulating online.
