"Homely Girl" was co-written by Rivers Cuomo and Japanese songwriter Shusui in November 2009. Cuomo released the original, mostly lyricsless demo on the music collaboration website [http://www.indabamusic.com/ Indaba Music], offering $208 to the person who would produce a better demo. On December 23, 2009 Cuomo posted ''"We've decided to roll with the version by "Beware Fashionable Women". Next I'll write the lyrics and we'll record the song for real. Look for the finished product on my debut Japanese language solo album next year.''" The mentioned solo album, which would have been titled ''[[ザ クマモトキッド (The Kumamoto Kid)|ザ クマモトキッド]]'' (The Kumamoto Kid), would not be released, turning into the [[Scott & Rivers]] project after teaming up with [[Scott Murphy]] instead. | |||
