When You're Alone: Difference between revisions

I can't believe I just put any amount of work into this. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. ;____;
(I cannot find the lyrics to this in The Pinkerton Diaries. Did I miss them? Is it "rain falls around we too"? "Rain falls around we two"? DAMN IT RIVERS)

Overview
Overview
"When You're Alone" is an a capella composition, described in the recording history as a "barbershop original." It was recorded in November or December of 1993, and the Catalog of Riffs lists it as being written November 30, 1993.
"A Glorious Moment" is a spoken word recording from April 15, 1995, the day after Rivers' leg surgery which is heavily detailed in The Pinkerton Diaries and helped influence some of the content from Pinkerton. A track listed as "1995-04-15 RC After Operation" in The 4 and 5 star demos of Rivers Cuomo likely refers to this recording.

Despite being released on Alone III, the lyrics are not listed in The Pinkerton Diaries.

<lyrics>
"It's 5:30 on... the 15th... the day after my operation. Um... I'm, eating saltines, drinking juice. I actually peed... for the first time... on my own. It was... a glorious moment. It was truly glorious. Now I'm going to try to... set up some music to listen to. Goodbye."
(interpretation)

What good is the sun that shines?
What good is the morning dew?
No matter how sweet
Or lovely the morn
It's no fun at all
When you're alone

Who cares that the sun has gone?
And rain falls around we too?
No matter how cold
Or dreary the night
I can't help but smile
When you're with me
</lyrics>
