Mikey Welsh (born April 20, 1971 in Syracuse, New York) is a former bassist of Weezer.
First picking up a guitar at thirteen, Welsh wasn't serious about playing an instrument until at age seventeen he picked up a bass. In 1988, while still in high school, Welsh formed his first band, Left Nut, which rose to prominence in the Boston music scene. After playing in several Boston bands, he joined Rivers Cuomo in 1997 to play a couple of solo Boston shows. By 1998, Welsh joined Weezer, replacing Matt Sharp as bass player.
