===Liner notes===
In the liner notes for the deluxe edition of ''The Red Album'', Rivers states that "King" was originally abandoned by the band during the album's demo sessions, and that it was Scott who rescued it from the brink.  He apparently called Rivers up one night, and essentially demanded they record it because it was his favorite track from the ''[[Deliverance at Hand!]]'' demos. Rivers responded, saying (perhaps jokingly) that if he [Scott] wanted the song so bad he should sing it.

<span style="color:#ff0000">''Scott:</span> King was my favorite demo on Rivers' "Deliverance at Hand" demos. It wasn't getting voted into the pool so I called him and said, "This song is the shit everybody is crazy!" He said, "Oh yeah you sing it then," I said "Oh yeah, OK I will!" This was one of if not the most difficult songs to get recorded. I think we played it for three weeks as a band. It made everyone crazy. I love how it turned out.''</blockquote>
The band also noted that it was the most difficult song to record during the sessions for the album.
