Goat Punishment is a pseudonym that has been employed by Weezer in the past, when the band played small, semi-secret club dates in the Los Angeles area.
The Album 5 Demos are a collection of songs recorded in 2002 for the band's planned fifth album. All of the demos from this period were ultimately scrapped, though elements from certain songs were reworked for future songs. Weezer's actual fifth album, Make Believe, would not see release until 2005.

The name "Goat Punishment" was made up by Jon Williams of the band Volcano Suns. The name was then suggested to Mikey Welsh by his friend Todd Philips (formerly of Bullet LaVolta and Juliana Hatfield's band). Weezer first used the name at two club shows in 1998, which consisted solely of Nirvana and Oasis covers, respectively. Pat was either taking a break from the band or out of town at the time, so Philips sat in on drums.
The first batch of demos, with some being recorded before Maladroit's release, reflect the band's earliest attempts at a fifth album. These sessions broke a lot of new ground, including Rivers Cuomo inviting other members to contribute and sing songs, an increased use of keyboards and organs, and reflecting a songwriting style by Cuomo which focuses more on storytelling and less on his own feelings.  Also, a few SS2K songs were recalled for the sessions. In an AIM chat with Rivers Cuomo on January 8, 2002, Cuomo described the sound of Weezer's fifth album as "a combination of The Green Album and Pinkerton, if that's possible! And some Maladroit. But really it's a new different style."

The name was revived in late 2000, and again in late 2001, for a series of shows at small venues. The pupose of these shows were usually to practice a setlist for an upcoming opening slot, or work on new material in front of a live audience. By the end of the 2001 run of shows, the psuedonym became rather common knowledge, partly because Los Angeles-area radio station KROQ leaked the news on several occasions. To date, there have been nine total shows that Weezer has performed under the Goat Punishment name.
Not much is known as to why the material was scrapped.
