The phrase "Ecce homo", Latin for "''Behold the man''", is used by [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontius_Pilate Pontius Pilate] in the Vulgate translation of the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_John Gospel of John], wherein he presents a scourged Jesus Christ, bound and crowned with thorns, to a hostile crowd shortly before his Crucifixion.
