The cover of Pinkerton is a Japanese ukiyo-e artwork by Hiroshige. Rivers chose this painting because....it was on a postcard sent to me by my 'gf' Chiba and it captured the feeling of winter loneliness that I was feeling in Cambridge.
The cover art of Pinkerton is an antique Japanese ukiyo-e artwork by Hiroshige. It is number sixteen of the series, The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō.
