Vanweezer cover.png "I've Thrown It All Away" is an upcoming song from Van Weezer. The track was originally written in 1993 by Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, and Jason Cropper.
Weezer Maladroit.jpg "Living Without You" is a Maladroit outtake that was released as a bonus track for international editions of the album.

According to the Recording History, "I've Thrown It All Away" was originally conceived by Wilson, who recorded down versions of the song with only drums and bass to 4-track, with an additional version thereafter recorded using a Yamaha workstation. Cuomo recorded a demo of the song in February of 1993, later including it in the demo cassette tape Monterey Jack.
The song was apparently written in 2001, and first recorded by the band during the late summer Demos. It was performed live at many shows during the Midget Tour series, as well as at several Goat Punishment shows later in 2001. The song was one of many that Weezer demoed and worked on during the Maladroit sessions, and is in fact the only completed non-LP song from the album's recording sessions that has been released.

On April 14, 2020, Cuomo hosted an Island in the Zoom stream over the video conferencing platform Zoom in which Jason Cropper appeared as a guest. Cuomo mentioned during this session that Cropper had co-written an old song (later confirmed to be "I've Thrown It All Away") that would be appearing on Van Weezer and sang the beginning of the first verse . On December 9, 2020 Cuomo released the 1993 demo of the song (albeit with a truncated ending) on the demo storefront on his personal website, as part of the compilation Patrick & Rivers.
The 'in progress' versions of the song released on the official site during the late 2001 / early 2002 sessions had slightly different lyrics. Originally, the line was, "I'll be your bestest friend", but was changed to "I'll be your best of friends" for the final mix.
