I feel like the alternative would necessitate labeling sections as [Chorus], [Pre-chorus], [Bridge], etc. which other lyric sites do and which I think just looks messy in the context of this site. I agree that it's good to have the repeats in the interest of following along with the lyrics. Sometimes lyrics can go on a little too long on the page, but I think that's often a problem of unnecessary use of line breaks.
