"Ice Butterfly" is a song written by Matt Sharp for his short-lived musical project, The Clique. The song was released as a maxi-single cassette in 1990.
"Pork and Beans" was recently announced as the lead single of Weezer's brand new self-titled album, Weezer (The Red Album). While yet to be officially released, AlbumSix.com boardies have discovered the full lyrics to the song, tucked away in the code of an Amazon listing for the single. Read an excerpt of the unreleased lyrics here:
<poem>
The red little bean as a gift for you,
You didn't like it and made me a fool.
I explained myself and the things I do
I tried to tell you, but you lost your cool
...
The red little bean is uniquely mine
Outta my way I can't stay in line.
I explained myself and the things I do
I tried to tell you, but you lost your cool.
...
And I don't care if that's not your thing.
And I don't care if that's not your thing.
And I don't care, I eat pork and beans.
</poem>

In 1990, a man claiming to be an NBC executive told Sharp about a made-for-tv film project called Ice Butterfly: The Nancy Kerrigan Story. The executive commissioned Sharp to make the theme for movie. Sharp, who had never written a song before, formed The Clique with two friends he had met through the Black Rock Coalition. Sharp borrowed money from his mother and recorded the song "Ice Butterfly" at Paramount Studios in Hollywood in July of 1990. After the movie project fell through, Sharp produced a maxi-single of the song in an attempt to get it played by local radio stations, to little avail. The band was thereafter dissolved.
