This system of having featured articles be available to edit months in advance is a new one and we're kinda still testing it out. I reverted your edits on the page, only because they weren't in alignment with our [[Help:Featured Article|guidelines for editing the featured content]], but that isn't to say we couldn't do something like what you've suggested for the December article!
