Historic event
Fan recollection
Attendee Bryan Bennington recounted the concert in an e-mail to Karl Koch:[2]
We showed up at Tremont Music Hall 4 hours early (general admission....) It was cold, and none of us thought it wise to wear a jacket. As we were standing there, a white van pulled up, and we saw the unmistakable face of Rivers Cuomo pop through the door, and skuttle into the venue. We were stoked. The other members cruised in, and Brian stopped to say, "what's up." A couple of minutes later we were treated to a kick ass version of "In the Garage," during soundcheck. The line was starting to grow behind us (we were the only ones that got to hear the sound check!) We got inside, and began to thaw when the band Nerf Herder took the stage. They were alright, but we were ready for Weezer to bring the rock. Bring the rock, they did. Because we were lucky enough to catch a show during the Pinkerton tour, we heard "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly," "Pink Triangle," "Tired of Sex," and "El Schorcho." The show rocked hard, and it was awesome to see =W= in a small venue like Tremont (less than 800 capacity, I think.) After the show, I snuck off and passed my ticket stub to Brian, who passed it to Rivers. Rivers signed the stub, and I went back to my friends to gloat. Little did I know, Rivers was following me out of the dressing room. He sat down on a couch (random, I know...but the place has a lounge....) My friend Corey sat down next to Rivers. Rivers looked really nervous, and I felt bad for harrassing him. In the end, we all got our t- shirts, and ticket stubs signed. We went home, rocking to =W= all the way.
