...Anyway, by all accounts, from band crew and fans, weezer rocked the Coachella stage hard, and won over the mixed crowd, not to mention Jane's Addiction! Pat says Jane's were "great" and employed an unknown bass player. A fan writes:
""Weezer got the crowd rockin' at coachella. The fans were totally ecstatic and the new songs Photograph and Island in the sun became instant hits, I kept hearing people say "wow the new album is going to kick ass when it comes out!" The crowd was so into the songs that when it came time for only in dreams people literally had no energy left what so ever but they still somehow mannaged to find more and kept on rockin. It was a great concert! I drove 8 hours to see weezer and it was totally worth it, well accept when I got my wallet stollen in the crowd of weezer fans, that really sucked. One guy was taking wallets out of peoples pockets and tossing them backwards in to the sea of people. It really sucks how one jackass can ruin the whole day but I knew that there was nothing I could do but just forget about it and enjoy the rest of the show. No weezer shirt though since I didn't have any money to get one." --Taylor
I attended the Coachella Festival yesterday, and Weezer was the best part of the entire day!!! Sometimes it really stinks to be short. All of the really tall people seem to always stand right in front of me. Oh well. There was also a naked man standing 2 ft. away from me that was quite distracting. One of those things where you know you shouldn't be looking, but you just can't help it. Anyway, loved all of the new songs I heard and can't wait for the new album's release. "Island in the Sun" was one of my faves. Oh yes, and the glorious glowsticks that went flying towards the stage. Did any of them make it there? Was anyone hit? Hope not. -Michelle Nakata
"Weezer rocked at Coachella, no doubt. I actually enjoyed them more at Coachella than when I saw them in Los Angeles at the Palladium. The drummer from the Roots said that Weezer was his favorite band of the day. I would be lying if I said they were, although Weezer is one of my all-time favorite band, it really sucked that they had to follow up the Roots. Now, I don't mean that Weezer didn't rock, but (in my opinion) the Roots were the best part of the whole day. I think Weezer was a very close second, but the Roots were brilliant. To answer the other fans question, Brian got hit with a glow stick during Surf Wax America (which is not one of my favorite weezer songs, but they did it AWESOME!!!) and it was funny because Brian freaked out Woody Allen style."
