Featured article: Whisky a Go Go

The Whisky a Go Go is a music club in West Hollywood, California. Weezer performed their second-ever show there on March 30, 1992, and has returned to perform there eight more times throughout their career. Their latest performance there was a a secret show in 2019 with Green Day and Fall Out Boy in the lead up to the Hella Mega Tour.

Many of Weezer's contemporaries have also performed at the Whisky frequently over the years, including That Dog, Ozma, and the pre-Weezer outfit The Dum Dums.

Writing for the LA Times in March 1994, journalist Lorraine Ali described the Whiskey as "the grand old Los Angeles rock club." Ali went on to call it "a fixture since the ‘60s that has played host over the years to everyone from Led Zeppelin to Elvis Costello to Smashing Pumpkins... If you want to hear something new, yet sample the history and tradition of Los Angeles rock, the Whisky is where you go. The club is every bit as indestructible as rock ‘n’ roll itself."

Featured song: "Pick U Up"

"Pick U Up" (also known as "Pick You Up") is a song by singer-songwriter Adam Lambert from his 2009 debut album For Your Entertainment. The song was co-written by Lambert with Rivers Cuomo and Greg Wells. Cuomo rewrote the song in Japanese in the early 2010's with the aid of musician Scott Murphy, re-titling it "Kimi to futari de" (君と二人で, "Alone with You") and including it on the duo's eponymous debut album. Cuomo and Murphy performed the song at multiple shows in Japan, as well as during the second Weezer Cruise.

Cuomo commented on his collaboration with Lambert in an interview with MTV, saying Lambert "came up with a few ideas for it for himself, took the melody in a different place, suggested some lyric changes, and before you knew it, I was writing a song with Adam Lambert."

"Pick U Up" was originally in contention for Weezer's 2009 album Raditude, then again for the 2010 record Hurley.

weezer.com is the official website for Weezer. The website currently features major announcements, a list of upcoming tour dates, links to their discography on most major streaming services, Weezer's social media pages, Weezerpedia, riverscuomo.com, and a webstore.

During the '90s, weezer.com either did not exist or was a fan-owned domain, most information on this iteration of the website is scarce. The site that would eventually become weezer.com started as weezer.net, founded in late 1994 by Anuj Behal, Dan Gdowski, and Steve Carman, and assisted by a few others at times. Anuj Behal ran a server out of his dorm room at college in Chicago, which enabled weezer.net to host the earliest video clips of weezer on the web, such as the band's 1994 and 1995 TV appearances. At this time weezer.net was known as "the Rebel Weezer Alliance (RWA)"

'Karl's Corner' joined weezer.net in spring 2000, doing near continuous updates for the remainder of 2000, documenting the daily efforts to prepare material (and overcome corporate resistance) for the band's planned 3rd album. At this time, the weezer.net crew looked into the status of weezer.com, and learned that a random fan had acquired it several years prior, the stage was set for Weezer to formally acquire the domain in January of 2001. By 2015 When Crush Music became Weezer's primary label, weezer.com evolved into a more "standard" band website with typical content, including tour dates and major announcements. Historical content has since migrated to Weezerpedia.

Featured song: "Susanne"

"Susanne" (sometimes rendered as "Suzanne") is a song by Weezer. Originally released as a B-side to "Undone - The Sweater Song," a remixed version later appeared on the soundtrack to the 1995 film Mallrats.

"Susanne" was written by Rivers Cuomo and recorded to 8-track in January of 1994, as a tribute to Susanne Filkins, an A&R production manager at Geffen Records. According to Karl Koch, during the period between the recording of The Blue Album in October 1993 and its release the following May, Filkins "became a big Weezer supporter, doing her best to keep the guys optimistic about their future with Geffen." As reflected in the song's lyrics, Filkins reportedly did give Cuomo a spare winter coat and bake him brownies to cheer him up. Before Filkins was made aware of the song's existence, the members of Weezer surprised her with a performance in her office (a capella, with Patrick Wilson on acoustic guitar). Filkins was reportedly moved to tears.

Featured article: The Special Goodness (album)

The Special Goodness (also known as the Bunny Record or Bunny Album) is the debut album by the eponymous side project of Weezer drummer Patrick Wilson. It was recorded in 1996 and officially released in 1998 on the Japanese label Rock Records. Handmade copies of the album were made to sell during the band's fall 1999 and spring 2000 tours in the US.

In early 1996, Wilson received a budget from Weezer's label, Geffen, to record the album. Wilson recorded it in musician Tom Ackerman's basement — a recording space nicknamed "the Special Land" by Wilson, which became the band and album's namesake — and White Horse Studios between March–April of that year. The album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Tony Lash, the drummer of Heatmiser. Aside from sparse contributions from Lash and Pat Finn, Wilson recorded every part of the album himself.

The album had a tumultuous release process — it was originally slated to be distributed by Geffen, but was delayed multiple times before the label eventually asked Wilson to seek another label. The Japanese label Rock Records issued the album in November 1998 exclusively in Japan. Over the course of 1998–2000, Wilson partnered with a handful of independent labels to have the album issued in the US, however these deals too fell through for various reasons. Unable to secure an official US release, Wilson and Karl Koch crafted handmade CD-R copies of the album while on the road to sell during the Special Goodness' fall 1999 and spring 2000 tours.

Weezer also known as "The White Album," is Weezer's tenth studio album. It was revealed on January 14, 2016 and was released on April 1. It's their first album to be released under Crush Music. A digital-only deluxe version was released on October 7, 2016. It's notable for mixing more modern pop-styled tracks with the classic alt-rock sound of the band. The album garnered a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Rock Album.

After the disappointing sales of the previous album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, the band left Republic Records and joined Crush Music. Soon after, Jonathan Daniel, founder and CEO of Crush Music, suggested to Rivers Cuomo that they should "write a beach record". "It was one of those things where it’s so obvious that we never even realized it”, Cuomo said to the L.A. Times in a interview.

April 2026 marks the tenth anniversary of White, which Weezerpedia is celebrating by making all the featured content on the main page White Album themed!

"Pacific Sunset" (originally titled "Vehement Uprising") is a demo by Rivers Cuomo. Several demos were released as part of the digital compilations Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years and Alone XII: The White Year. Sections of the song later became part of the Weezer track "Run, Raven, Run."

"Pacific Sunset" was originally written in 2015 in contention for Weezer's (White Album), alongside a variation titled "Spirit Animal". Demos of the song were released in 2020 as part of the compilations Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years and Alone XII: The White Year. On December 10, 2020, the project files for the song, for use with the music software Ableton, were made available as the first "Master Sessions" to be sold on the demo storefront on riverscuomo.com.

The song was possibly briefly a contender for Weezer's SZNZ series of EPs, though Cuomo confirmed on April 29, 2021 that the song was no longer in contention, instead, he was interested in repurposing the song's bridge. The bridge (as well as the song's climax and final chorus) were ultimately appropriated as the bridge and climax of the SZNZ: Autumn track "Run, Raven, Run."

Weezer also known as "The White Album," is Weezer's tenth studio album. It was revealed on January 14, 2016 and was released on April 1. It's their first album to be released under Crush Music. A digital-only deluxe version was released on October 7, 2016. It's notable for mixing more modern pop-styled tracks with the classic alt-rock sound of the band. The album garnered a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Rock Album.

After the disappointing sales of the previous album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, the band left Republic Records and joined Crush Music. Soon after, Jonathan Daniel, founder and CEO of Crush Music, suggested to Rivers Cuomo that they should "write a beach record". "It was one of those things where it’s so obvious that we never even realized it”, Cuomo said to the L.A. Times in a interview.

Featured song: "Pacific Sunset"

"Pacific Sunset" (originally titled "Vehement Uprising") is a demo by Rivers Cuomo. Several demos were released as part of the digital compilations Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years and Alone XII: The White Year. Sections of the song later became part of the Weezer track "Run, Raven, Run."

"Pacific Sunset" was originally written in 2015 in contention for Weezer's (White Album), alongside a variation titled "Spirit Animal". Demos of the song were released in 2020 as part of the compilations Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years and Alone XII: The White Year. On December 10, 2020, the project files for the song, for use with the music software Ableton, were made available as the first "Master Sessions" to be sold on the demo storefront on riverscuomo.com.

According to Rivers Cuomo, "Pacific Sunset" was later demoed for the Weezer album OK Human. The song was possibly briefly a contender for Weezer's SZNZ series of EPs, though Cuomo confirmed on April 29, 2021 that the song was no longer in contention, instead, he was interested in repurposing the song's bridge. The bridge (as well as the song's climax and final chorus) were ultimately appropriated as the bridge and climax of the SZNZ: Autumn track "Run, Raven, Run."

Featured song: "Superfriend"

"Superfriend" is a song by Rivers Cuomo, originally intended as a track for the unrealized album concept Songs from the Black Hole (the concept that later morphed into Pinkerton).

Cuomo is known to have recorded two full demos of "Superfriend," either around Christmas of 1994 or, more likely, February of 1995. The more well-known demo, released in 2007 as part of the compilation album Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, is intended as a duet between the characters of Jonas and Laurel. A second demo, recorded in 1995 and released in 2020 as part of the digital demo compilation Alone IV: The Blue-Pinkerton Years, features an alternate chorus, less articulate vocals, and is seemingly intended to be sung only from Jonas' perspective.

"Superfriend" was desired by fans for several years before its release. In the early 2000s, Karl Koch named the song as one of his favorite unreleased Weezer songs and had planned to include it in a rarities compilation that would never be released. Footage of "Superfriend" being performed in the studio, as well as acoustically in a hotel room, appeared on the 2004 Weezer DVD Video Capture Device. "Superfriend" was attempted as a full band at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, but the recording was later erased. Ultimately, the Songs from the Black Hole concept—and "Superfriend" with it— would be scrapped in favor of what would eventually become Pinkerton.
