Weezerpedia:Today's featured song/March 3, 2009
Weezer fans first heard "Hold Me" as an acoustic demo, posted by Rivers himself. It was one of the last demos Rivers posted for fans. Rivers wrote the song after a period of fasting. Rivers, in 2005, made himself clear in various interviews that he did not suggest drastic measure to create songwriting opportunities because it could not be sustained. Therefore, he was always somewhat reluctant to share with people how "Hold Me" was written. The song was later heard by fans when a brief SIR clip was posted for fans featuring part of the solo and the final chorus, backed by a whole band. Karl Koch explains (more)
