Asian Kung-Fu Generation (アジアン・カンフー・ジェネレーション, stylized as ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION) is a Japanese alternative rock band formed in Yokohama, Japan, in 1996. The band is notable in the west for writing intro themes to anime such as Naruto and Bleach, among others.

Connection to the Rentals and Weezer

The band, as well as lead singer/songwriter Masafumi Gotoh, contributed covers of the songs "Hello Hello" and "A Rose Is a Rose" to the 2010 Rentals tribute album Lost Out in the Machinery - Songs of the Rentals. On the final show of their 2013 tour, at Yokohama Stadium, the band performed covers of "Getting By" (by the Rentals) and "Only in Dreams" (by Weezer), the latter song featuring former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp. Gotoh's music label, Only in Dreams, is likely a reference to the Weezer song of the same name.

The band's 2018 album Hometown includes two songs co-written by Rivers Cuomo, "Clock Work" and "Dancing Girl". Their 2022 album, Demachiyanagi Parallel Universe, features a cover of the Pinkerton-era B-side "I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams".

The compilation album Nano-Mugen Compilation 2006, released by the band in promotion for their music festival Nano-Mugen, includes the song "Getting By". Similarly, Nano-Mugen Compilation 2011 includes "Memories" by Weezer, as well as an exclusive remixed version of "A Rose Is a Rose" by the Rentals that features Gotoh.
