Rivers Cuomo's Facebook comment
On April 14, 2016, Weezer Fan Club user Samantha Nish made a post on the official Facebook group asking Cuomo if he would post more lyric annotations on the website Genius.com [1]. In the thread, Cuomo replied "i'd have to go back and look at my notes. i kinda forget everything i work on after a few days. I could tell you tons about BEAUTIFUL LIES or GUN IT!"

This song was later reworked into the bridge of the 2017 Pacific Daydream song "Weekend Woman".

Lyrics

I came to New York for rock and roll
Trying to save the white man soul
There's something that you should probably know
Woah
Woah

I don't mean to cross you up
My whole being cries out for love
Sometimes a man can't help what he does
Woah
Woah

I won't believe your beautiful lies
You don't have to die to go to heaven
I won't believe your beautiful lies
It almost makes me feel young again

Father used to go on trips
Santa Claus with a bag of gifts
It's so hard not to fall for this
Woah
Woah

Curled up like a little girl
Your white shoes are so beautiful
But some things are not forgivable

I won't believe your beautiful lies
You don't have to die to go to heaven
I won't believe your beautiful lies
It almost makes me feel young again
