"Faith in the Light" (formerly titled "Everybody Depends on a Friend") is a song demoed by Weezer in 2001
Appearances
Overview
"Faith in the Light" was originally demoed by Rivers Cuomo in the summer of 2001.[2] The song was demoed by Weezer during sessions at Steakhouse Studios and Cello Studios in late October and early November of 2001. The song was debuted live at a concert at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood on October 24, 2001, under the name "Goat Punishment". The concert was filmed for the HBO television show Reverb, and although "Faith in the Light" was not among the songs broadcast, a video of the performance was uploaded to the official Reverb website.[3] The song was subsequently performed live at a handful of shows in November of 2001, including two more Goat Punishment shows. Two soundboard recordings of the song from the Midget Tour shows were posted by Karl Koch to the band's official website. The song was played for the final time on November 17 and, apparently, discarded thereafter, as it was not attempted during the sessions for Maladroit, which began the following month.
The song shares its Catalog O' Riffs number with another Cuomo demo titled "The Port of Ecstasy".

Lyrics
Everybody depends on a friend
To hide their face from the sun
In the morning, when things haven't changed
Your world is coming undone
And everywhere that you go
Your nose is starting to grow
You lose your faith in the light
Okay, okay
Everybody looks up to the stars
To find the things that they need
Hanging over their heads in the night
And now they're looking to me
And everywhere that you go
Your nose is starting to grow
You lose your faith in the light
Okay, okay
C'mon, baby, won't you tell me again?
I just want you to tell me you can
After everything we've been through
My heart will make it up to you
I couldn't stand the pain
Everybody looks up to the stars
To find the things that they need
To find the things that they need
