"Happy Together" is a 60s pop classic by The Turtles, and covered by Weezer in 2002.

Overview

When Spike Jonze was finishing his film Adaptation in early 2002, he asked Weezer to record "Happy Together" for inclusion in the film. The band rehearsed, recorded, and even performed the song live during the spring, but for reasons unknown, Jonze decided to use The Turtles' original recording in the final cut. Weezer's studio version remains unreleased, although a live soundboard recording was released at the official site, and is frequently traded digitally online. Due to the timing of the mp3's release, it has been speculated that this live version was recorded during the same May 2002 Japanese tour that spawned the live EP The Lion and the Witch.

Lyrics

Imagine me and you
I do
I think about you day and night
It's only right
To think about the girl you love
And hold her tight
So happy together

If I should call you up
Invest a dime
And you say you belong to me
And ease my mind
Imagine how the world would be
So very fine
So happy together

I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me
Maybe the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Me and you, and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice
It has to be
The only one for me is you
And you for me
So happy together

I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me
Maybe the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Happy together
Happy together
How is the weather?
So happy together
We're happy together
