I Thought You Should Know

From Weezerpedia
Jump to: navigation, search

"I Thought You Should Know" is an unrealized interstitial song worked on by Rivers Cuomo for the aborted Weezer concept album Songs from the Black Hole. The song is listed by name in a synopsis written in Cuomo's notes (as seen in the book The Pinkerton Diaries). The song is not known to have been demoed, but Cuomo lists the song (in B♭) in a potential track list in his notes, along with potential lyrics. The song would have been sung by the character Maria.

Lyrics

Now you're happy as can be
Here's your dramatic irony
I hate to burst your bubble
Looks like we're both in trouble
I'm afraid I'm late about two weeks

I hate to burst your bubble
Looks like we're both in trouble
One thing that I know for sure: it's you
I thought you should know
Here's a little clue

You did this to me
So what are you gonna do?
No matter to me
I love you more
I want you to know
Why, oh, why do I hang on
Knowing you'll never turn round
I just can't help myself
I want you and no one else
So why isn't that enough for you?
