A bit more Rivers info: I got a hold of him, and he sounded good! He is indeed planning on turning his new garage into a little home studio (apparently his neighborhood is pretty quiet and wouldnt take well to loud rock n roll). And he explained his isolation of the last year (no radio listening, no parties, no shows, no music-shopping) as essential for his songwriting, something he didn't realize earlier. And he is pleased with the results! Songs (that he likes) are, in fact, being written. He had no word on any kind of schedule, but I beleive the deal with those braces (RS article, see below) has kind of created one for him.
