...MB '05 Tour: Day 96: arrive in Curitiba, Brazil - day off
Today we finally touched down in São Paulo, and went thru 2 hours of sheer organized chaos, clearing customs, gathering and rechecking the luggage, going thru immagration to Brazil, and figuring out where the connecting flight to Curitiba was leaving from. Everyone was pretty exhausted, so when the flight to Curitiba was delayed due to the pilot getting sick we were nearing the end of our collective ropes o' sanity. But then, suddenyl we were boarding, so it looks like a new pilot was found fast. We finally touched down in the 'small' city of Curitiba ("only" 3 million people, as opposed to the 20 million in São Paulo, and the 25+ million in Mexico City) and got to the hotel around noon, where most of the band and crew settled into their rooms for very badly needed afternoon naps. Weezer in Brazil at last! But first, a nap.

That night, refreshed and ready for some food, some of the crew and most of the band took up the Brazilian Universal reps' offer to go out to dinner, at an awesome "steakhouse" which had so much more than steak that everyones dietary needs were well met many times over. Utterly delicious food, Brazilian style!

We discovered that Avril Lavinge is also in Curitiba right now, and is in fact sharing our hotel. We learned this from the mobs of Avril fans who were mobbing the hotel lobby! Hotels usually dont allow this but this one was a little slow on the draw. They finally shooed the mobs out at some point. Apparently she was playing somewhere in town tonight. I guess that accounts for the absence of sk8erbois out on the streets this evening.
