After Åhlund produced the albums Meliora and Impera for Swedish rock band Ghost in 2015 and 2022 respectively, Rivers Cuomo was inspired to use him as a producer for a new Weezer album, and got in contact in June 2023.[citation needed]
The first officially released song that Åhlund produced for Weezer is I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, released on November 30, 2024 for the Hallmark film Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story[1]. A few days after this release, Cuomo, in his Mister Rivers' Neighborhood Discord server, asked "how does it sound?" in response to discussion about the song.[2]
