Overview
Rivers Cuomo recorded the initial demo, "Say You Will," to an Olympus handheld digital recorder in 2001.[1][2] Following completion on the band's fourth album, Maladroit, Weezer immediately began work on a planned fifth album, recording new demos throughout the spring and summer of 2002. Two demos of "Misstep" were shared with fans on the band's official website. Ultimately, all of the demos from the aforementioned sessions were scrapped, and the band's fifth album would not see release until 2005.
Cuomo's original demo ("Say You Will") was released in November of 2020 as part of the digital demo compilation Alone VIII: The Maladroit Years.
Lyrics
"I've got my what wide?" It is not presently possible to verify some of the lyrics due to lack of verifiable sources, insufficient fidelity of audio, or mumbled vocal delivery. We encourage users to accept this ambiguity and refrain from attempting to guess. |
Never before have I fallen for someone
Who'd go on to do me like this
You were the one who would ???
???
Say you love me
Say you love me
Get out the house 'cause as long as you're cheating
???
Betting on losers is always a good way
To lose what you wanted to prove
Say you love me
Say you love me
You should be talking never
Instead you tried to better me
And now ??? the truth
You should be talking never
Instead you tried to better me
And now ??? the truth
Get out the house 'cause as long as you're cheating
???
Betting on losers is always a good way
??? you wanted ???
Say you love me
Say you love me
