Overview
This song was premiered live by Weezer at Jisan Valley Rock Festival in South Korea on July 24, 2009. Rivers has stated that the song is about a girl at his High School Reunion that was not "hot" in High School, but in the intervening years between High School and the Reunion she had gotten "hot". The song was co-written by producer Butch Walker, who also produced the track.
Band Commentary
Rivers: "The Girl Got Hot" I wrote after I've been to my high school reunion and there was a woman there that was just stunningly beautiful and I was scratching my head trying to figure out "Wait. I don't remember her. Who is this?". And then I remembered her as this girl that no one even noticed back in high school. And just over the years she had totally blossomed. So I wrote the song "The Girl Got Hot". [1]
